The Grandeur of Foz do Iguaçu – The Brasilians

The Grandeur of Foz do Iguaçu

In the far west of the state of Paraná, you will find Foz do Iguaçu, one of the most picturesque cities in the country, thanks to the majestic 275 waterfalls that make up the Iguaçu Falls. Located on the border between Brazil and Argentina, in the Iguaçu National Park, the Falls attract hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world.

Recognized as a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Park had its Falls selected as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the New World, and protects endangered species of fauna and flora, such as the jaguar and the araucaria tree. There, you can visit the Devil’s Throat, the largest waterfall in the region, standing at 90 meters high.

Another attraction in Foz is the Bird Park, where you can enjoy a 17-hectare area of native forest and observe over 800 species of birds (blue macaws, red-billed curassows, jacutinga, and others) that live in the area.

Also visit the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world, the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant. In addition to closely observing this gigantic engineering feat, you can enjoy activities offered for people of all ages, such as visiting a museum with photos, historical components, and interactive models, as well as trails in the woods to observe native plants and animals. It is worth highlighting that Brazil is a leader in biodiesel research.

The Triple Frontier Landmark is also a popular attraction for those visiting the city. Not only do the Iguaçu and Paraná rivers meet there, but also the borders of three important South American countries: Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. There is a commercial complex with craft shops and cafes, and you can enjoy the beauty of the sunset from the viewpoint.

From Foz, you can visit Paraguay. The Friendship Bridge, built in 1965, provides access to the municipality of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay.
