The Ministry of Culture (MinC) clarified, through a statement, this Sunday (18) that the free streaming platform Tela Brasil is still in the final testing phase and has not been launched.
According to the ministry, “the information that the service is already available does not hold,” and the platform and its apps (Android and iOS versions) are scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2026.
In the MinC’s assessment, Tela Brasil will be an important deliverable of the federal government’s cultural policy for the audiovisual sector, as it will gather hundreds of Brazilian titles, unprecedentedly expanding the population’s access to national productions.
“The audiovisual diffusion initiative represents a strategic advance for the valorization of Brazilian culture, the strengthening of the sector, and the democratization of access to works produced in the country,” stated the MinC.
The statement includes the assessment that the positive and celebrated repercussions about the launch of the public streaming platform “demonstrate the pride and desire of Brazilian society to access its culture.”
The ministry concludes by stating that official information about the launch will be disclosed soon on its institutional channels.
