Brazilian skier Lucas Pinheiro Braathen finished second in the slalom at the Alpine Skiing World Cup stage this Sunday (18), held in Wengen, Switzerland. The result is the best ever achieved by a Brazilian in the competition and his fourth podium of the season.
The Brazilian completed the event with a combined time of 1:46.46 from the two runs. In the first, Lucas clocked 53.39; in the second, he was even better: 53.07.
Overall, the skier was just 0.47 seconds behind the champion, Norway’s Atle Lie McGrath, who took gold with 1:45.99. Another Norwegian, Henrik Kristoffersen, took bronze with 1:46.80.
On the eve of the Winter Olympics in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Brazilian already has three podiums. In addition to today’s medal, he won gold in the slalom in Finland; and silver in Alta Badia, Italy, in the giant slalom.
