Tax Regularization Program – The Brasilians

Tax Regularization Program

Almost 50,000 taxpayers have already opted for the Special Tax Regularization Program (Pert) from the Federal Revenue Service. Individuals or legal entities will have the last opportunity to regularize their debts with the National Treasury.

According to the program’s rules, taxpayers will be able to settle debts with the Federal Revenue Service (RFB) and the Attorney General’s Office of the National Treasury (PGFN) that were due by April 30, 2017.

According to João Paulo da Silva, the Undersecretary of Collection, Registries, and Service of the Federal Revenue Service, the number of enrollments could have been higher, but many debtors are waiting for possible changes being proposed. “Since the enrollment deadline ends at the end of this month and the discussion (in Congress) may be prolonged, taxpayers who wait for changes may lose the opportunity to regularize. In any case, if there are subsequent changes, they will also benefit those who have already enrolled,” he emphasized during an event held in São Paulo by the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp).

The program covers debts indicated by the taxpayer or responsible party, even if under administrative or judicial discussion, but they must first withdraw from the litigation. Enrollment can be done at the Federal Revenue Service’s Virtual Service Center on the Internet (e-CAC). Source: Portal Brasil
