The plenary of the Chamber of Deputies approved the base text of the provisional measure that increases the rigor in the inspection of animal-origin products. Among the main measures in the text is the increase, from R$ 15,000 to R$ 500,000, of the maximum fine imposed on violators of the
sanitary legislation.
In addition, the MP implements sanctions such as the revocation of the establishment’s registration and the prohibition of the violating company from entering into agreements with the public authority for up to five years.
The measure is a result of the sanitary policies proposed by the federal government after Operation Weak Meat, which pointed to some irregularities in federal sanitary inspection.
