Nixon predicts Trump’s election to the presidency

The letter, consisting of just two paragraphs, was sent by the businessman’s biographer, Michael D’Antonio, to the American newspaper The New York Times while preparing a book about the billionaire – which he initially thought of titling Never Enough, but it ended up being named The Truth About Trump.

The missive was written after Trump – who, at 41 years old at the time, was already a prominent figure in the real estate sector – appeared as a guest on a television program.

“Dear Donald.

I didn’t see the show, but my wife (Patty Nixon) told me that you were fantastic on Phil Donahue’s show (a famous talk-show host),” Nixon writes.

“In politics, it is predicted that on the day you decide to run for the presidency of the United States, you will be the winner,” he adds.

Nixon resigned from office on August 9, 1974, amid the Watergate scandal. He had been re-elected the previous year.

The Watergate case, initially reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post, revealed the connections between Republican Nixon and an illegal scheme to install wiretaps in the office of the Democratic National Committee, in the Watergate Complex in Washington.
