Agency Promotes Leader to Expand Business

Professor Dr. Paulo P. Lima takes on new roles as senior vice president and head of the Lagrant Communications sector.

For the past 12 years, Dr. Lima has held various positions at the agency, including senior consultant and vice president and director of the practice focused on the Hispanic market. In his new roles, Dr. Lima will be at the forefront of the agency’s business, aiming to expand the services offered to clients in the artistic and cultural areas.

The experienced professional in marketing and integrated communications has led campaigns to promote performances by the Center Theatre Group, The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Redcat, and the Pasadena Playhouse. His efforts in the cultural sector have attracted audiences and increased ticket sales for productions such as DanceBrazil, Companhia Urbana de Dança, and the renowned Brazilian show titled Júlia, by writer and director Christiane Jatahy. Other productions promoted by Paulo Lima include: The Trip to Bountiful, Ain’t Misbehavin, Satchmo at the Waldorf, and Fly. In addition to focusing on the promotion of theatrical and dance works, Dr. Lima has also been involved in leading campaigns aimed at increasing the visibility of programs offered by the California African American Museum in Los Angeles. More recently, he coordinated a welcome reception for the newest executive director of the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission, Ms. Sarah York Rubin.

A native of Brazil, Dr. Lima is also the editor of the website Afro-Brazilian.com, the first website dedicated to establishing and expanding dialogue between Afro-American and Afro-Brazilian culture. As the website’s editor, Lima is responsible for content development and selling space for digital ads.

“I am happy to be able to offer and expand my knowledge in the areas of art and culture,” said Dr. Lima. “I feel gratified to lead Lagrant Communications’ efforts in connecting our current and future clients in the cultural sector to African American, Brazilian, Hispanic, and LGBT communities.”

Also working with diversity and inclusion in academia, Dr. Lima teaches a course titled “Diversity in North American Theatre” at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, where he is an adjunct professor. Lima received his Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
