At the initiative of the Consulate-General in Miami, with the support of the Florida Citizens Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has authorized the creation of an Honorary Consulate in Orlando. Dr. Joel Stewart (photo), the current legal advisor of the Consulate-General, will take on the role of Honorary Consul starting in June.
The main objective of the Honorary Consul is to defend the rights and provide assistance, whether emergency or not, to members of the Brazilian community within their jurisdiction, whether residents or just passing through. It is important to note that this is not a Consular Office with regular public service and issuance of consular documents, a function that will continue to be performed by the Consulate-General in Miami.
The Honorary Consul will provide service in Orlando, exclusively by appointment, every two weeks. During each visit, he is expected to stay in the city for two to three days. The service schedule will be announced at least one month in advance. Whenever a new visit date is announced, the schedule for appointments will be opened. Seniors and individuals with mobility difficulties will have priority for service. For this reason, scheduling for assistance with consular services will depend on prior screening via email.
In the exercise of his functions, the Honorary Consul will initially provide the following services:
- Consular Assistance;
- Legal Guidance;
- Support for consular services (exclusively powers of attorney and certificates).
Attention: The Honorary Consul does not issue consular documents (including passports, registrations, visas, military documents, and voter registration) and will also not collect documents for services that can be done by mail.
Address: Beshara P.A (555 Winderley Pl #300, Orlando, FL 32751)
Tel: 786-464.8600
On the Consulate-General’s website, the expected dates for the Honorary Consul’s service, hours, contact information, and the email address for scheduling services will be available.
