Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva congratulated the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, on his victory in the election held on Tuesday (November 5), where he triumphed over Democrat Kamala Harris. Defending respect for the electoral outcome, the Brazilian leader wished luck and success to the future President of the United States.
“My congratulations to President Donald Trump on his electoral victory and return to the presidency of the United States. Democracy is the voice of the people and must always be respected. The world needs dialogue and collaboration for more peace, development, and prosperity. I wish the new government luck and success,” wrote the Brazilian president on his social media.
President Lula had recently expressed his preference for candidate Kamala Harris. A victory for the Democratic candidate, he argued, would strengthen democracy.
