Singer Lady Gaga will be the main attraction of a free megashow at Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, on May 3 of this year. Other big names in global music will perform along the Rio waterfront in free shows throughout May until 2028.
The project Todo Mundo no Rio (“Everyone in Rio”) was announced by the production company Bônus Track, responsible for organizing Madonna’s show, which attracted 2.5 million people last year.
The company’s CEO, Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, highlighted that events of this magnitude bring various benefits to the city, “from an economic perspective, as well as tourism and the city’s image, showcasing what Rio de Janeiro has to offer.”
He also stated that the artists for future editions will be chosen year by year.
Lady Gaga’s megashow will be sponsored by private companies with the support of the state government and the city hall.
The amount of public investment has not yet been disclosed, but the city’s Secretary of Culture, Lucas Faria, noted that Madonna’s previous show had a financial impact of R$ 300 million, well above the support provided.
“It mobilized Brazil, mobilized companies and brands, and showed that this model works. Todo Mundo no Rio becomes public policy.”
“It is a great honor to be invited to sing in Rio — throughout my career, fans in Brazil have been part of the vital blood of the little monsters,” she wrote.
Lady Gaga also mentioned that she has been working hard to put together an unforgettable show.
