Singer Lady Gaga will be the main artist performing at a major free concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on May 3 of this year. Other big names in world music will also perform along the Rio shoreline in free shows every May until 2028.
The project ‘Todo Mundo no Rio’ was presented by the production company Bônus Track, responsible for organizing Madonna’s show, which attracted 2.5 million people last year.
The company’s CEO, Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, emphasized that events of this magnitude bring a series of benefits to the city, “from an economic point of view, as well as for tourism and the city’s image, showcasing the good things that Rio de Janeiro has to offer.”
He also mentioned that the artists for upcoming editions will be chosen year by year.
The mega show by Lady Gaga will be sponsored by private companies, with support from the state and city government.
The amount of public investment has not yet been disclosed, but the city’s culture secretary, Lucas Faria, noted that Madonna’s previous show had a financial impact of R$ 300 million, far exceeding the support granted.
“It mobilized Brazil, mobilized companies and brands, and showed that this model works. Todo Mundo no Rio becomes a public policy.”
“It is a great honor to be invited to sing for Rio — throughout my career, fans in Brazil have always been part of the essence of the little monsters,” she wrote.
Lady Gaga also said she has been working hard to deliver an unforgettable show.
