Florianópolis Airport Wins Award for Best Terminal in Brazil

The Hercílio Luz International Airport in Florianópolis (SC) has been voted by travelers as the best terminal in the country. The Aviação+Brasil award, granted by the Ministry of Infrastructure (MInfra) and the National Commission of Airport Authorities (Conaero), also recognized the airport in Cascavel (PR) as the best in the “regional” category.

For the award, over 50,000 passengers were surveyed in 2021 as part of the Passenger Satisfaction Survey conducted by the National Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC). The competition included 61 airports, comprising 20 national and 41 regional, as well as five airlines competing for 17 awards after being evaluated on more than 90 accessibility practices and 926,000 landing and takeoff movements by the award organizers.

According to MInfra, about 92% of respondents in the latest editions of the satisfaction survey rated the competing airports as good or very good, giving the evaluated terminals scores above 4 – on a scale from 1 (very bad) to 5 (very good).

“The Bolsonaro government has been heavily investing in infrastructure, and the airport concessions contribute to the improvement of the services provided. Domestic tourism is increasingly being valued, and the country’s airports are prepared to meet greater demand with the resumption of travel,” highlighted the Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto.

The terminals in Belém (PA), Recife (PE), and Brasília (DF) also received the award for punctuality. Meanwhile, the airports in Belém (PA), Goiânia (GO), Congonhas (SP), Santos Dumont (RJ), and Galeão (RJ) were elected as the most accessible.

The Aviação + Brasil Award also assessed the performance of Brazilian airlines. Azul Linhas Aéreas was recognized in two categories. The company was awarded for the best performance in the Passenger Satisfaction Survey, regarding the scores given by travelers about the services offered at major airports, and for punctuality.

“This award shows the overcoming, the perseverance of a sector that faced the pandemic with its head held high. And this head held high has made us mature and given us the capacity to emerge from it even stronger, especially domestic aviation,” stated Marcelo Sampaio, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
