A report from US News & World Report, released last week, listed Brazil as the top adventure destination in the world among 78 nations. In the evaluated criteria, out of a total of 100 points, the country surpassed the 80-point mark in categories such as climate, scenery, and fun. This prominent position confirms Brazil’s potential in the post-pandemic scenario, driven by nature tourism, a major differentiator for the country in the post-pandemic period.
The document also analyzes the ability of countries to adapt and respond to obstacles and introduced the new agility index this year as part of its annual ranking of best countries. In the report, Brazil appears as the highest South American country on the Agility index (24th place) with a highlight for the dynamism criterion – 80 out of 100 – which measures the country’s ability to adapt to new scenarios.
“The recognition from an international publication shows all the potential of Brazil in the global tourism scene, reinforces the agility with which the federal government acted during the pandemic, and shows that we are on the right track to ensure the economic recovery of our country. It also confirms that tourism will play a decisive role in this mission,” commented the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Brito.
Brazil also stands out when it comes to cultural influence – ranking 13th – and achieving a maximum score in the category “culturally significant in terms of entertainment,” reinforcing the country’s potential for cultural tourism as well.
Concerned about this, the Ministry of Tourism, through the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan), has focused investments on the recovery of historical heritage. Throughout 2021 alone, the Ministry invested R$ 87 million and managed to return 24 restoration works of historical assets and heritage to society, also ensuring the generation of 2,400 direct jobs in 14 states.
