Brazil is the seventh best country in the world for solo travelers

A survey conducted by US News & World Report highlighted Brazil on the international stage. This is because the country was voted the seventh best place in the world for those planning to travel alone. Brazil was the only South American country to feature in the top ten ranking, ahead of traditional destinations like Mexico and Thailand. Among the criteria analyzed in the research were pleasant weather, safety, scenic beauty, and cultural accessibility.

According to the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Brito, the country’s good position is the result of tireless work by the federal government, in partnership with Embratur, in promoting international tourism and the variety of cultural attractions. “We are a unique country that stands out for the joy and hospitality of our people, as well as for the beautiful attractions we have. We are second in nature destinations, ninth in culture, and this does not even account for the various festivals and artistic expressions we have,” he pointed out.

Data from the International Tourism Demand report, conducted by the Ministry of Tourism, indicates that since 2017, there has been an increase in the number of foreigners entering the country alone: 30,900 in 2017; 31,600 in 2018; and 34,800 in 2019. In addition to being on the rise, the number of international tourists arriving in Brazil alone leads the ranking of arrivals in the country. In 2019, for example, nearly 35,000 entered unaccompanied, followed by 29,200 families, 19,800 couples with children, 11,200 friends, and 5,000 classified as others.

The president of Embratur, Sílvio Nascimento, also highlighted that the actions of the Ministry of Tourism, such as the Responsible, Clean and Safe Tourism Seal, were essential for this recognition. “The initiative was crucial to provide security to workers and tourists who wanted to travel again and is very important at this moment as we experience the resumption of our sector’s activities,” he assesses.

Responsible Tourism Seal

Since June 2020, the Ministry of Tourism has recommended a series of measures for safe travel. One of them is to check if establishments in the sector have the Responsible Tourism Seal, which indicates good biosafety practices for 15 activities in the industry. The initiative defines specific protocols for Covid-19 prevention and seeks to assist in the safe resumption of activities for both tourists and workers.

The seal is available for accommodations, theme parks, restaurants, cafes, bars, convention centers, fairs, exhibitions, and tour guides, among others, and can be obtained quickly and free of charge through the program’s website.
