The United States Consulate in Porto Alegre was inaugurated in June. The new U.S. consulate is located at Avenida Assis Brasil, 1889 – Passo 
d’Areia.

The presence of the U.S. in Porto Alegre aims to improve relations with Brazilians in the South of the country, as part of the U.S. diplomatic mission’s efforts to expand bilateral trade and investment, strengthen relations between the two countries, facilitate travel, promote educational and cultural exchange, and foster economic development.
