Train Connecting Orlando and Miami to Start Operating This Summer

Brightline, the company that will operate a train line between Orlando and South Florida, is preparing to launch the service this summer.

The company states that its trains can reach speeds of 130 mph – making it the fastest in the Southeast region.

So, how long can travelers expect to take to get to Miami from Brightline’s Orlando station? A non-stop train trip from Central Florida to Miami will take two hours and 59 minutes. From Orlando to West Palm Beach, it will be a two-hour journey.

Brightline recently opened the Orlando station to the public, and staff took time to educate future passengers on how to navigate Florida’s high-speed rail system.

A date for the inauguration of the new services in Orlando has not yet been announced, but the new station is expected to open before July of this year. Tickets between Miami and Orlando will be on sale this month for future dates.

The company offers two classes of service: SMART and PREMIUM. Brightline’s PREMIUM service will provide complimentary drinks and snacks in a dedicated car for this purpose.

One-way SMART fares start at $79, and one-way PREMIUM fares start at $149, according to Brightline’s website.

Currently, Brightline serves Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach.
