Tourism Minister Leads Negotiations to Attract More Cruises to Brazil

Expand the presence of cruises along Brazil’s nearly 8,000 km coastline year-round. This was the mission of the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, who landed in Miami last month to participate in Seatrade Cruise Global. The event is the leading fair for companies and organizations looking to do business with the international cruise industry.

“We have a coastline with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, and our goal is to boost the cruise industry. The participation of the Brazilian delegation in this event is precisely to promote new route possibilities in Brazil, as well as to identify existing bottlenecks so that we can stimulate this market, both internally and externally,” explained Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino.

The Brazilian cruise season 2023/2024, which ended last month, is expected to be the best in the last decade. The segment is set to inject R$ 5.1 billion into the country’s economy and generate 80,000 jobs. There are a total of 203 itineraries involving dozens of national destinations, in addition to more than 840,000 passenger beds.

“The effort we have made to attract investments in the sector, including the cruise segment, strongly contributes to increasing the number of jobs in our country, promoting social inclusion through tourism, which is good for everyone,” concluded Sabino.

“Minister Celso Sabino is the first Minister of Tourism to attend this event, which shows that cruises are a priority for the federal government, which recognizes the full potential of our segment for the Brazilian economy and how we can contribute to job creation,” said the president of Clia Brasil.

Brazil was present at the event with a 111-square-meter booth and the participation of 15 co-exhibitors, including Píer Mauá and the states of Ceará, São Paulo, Bahia, Alagoas, and Amazonas.
