The United Nations Security Council approved, on Wednesday (11), a resolution condemning attacks carried out by Iran against U.S. and Israeli targets in the Middle East. The text makes no mention of the military aggressions launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iranian territory. The information comes from RT Brasil.
The resolution was presented by Bahrain and received approval from the body, while Russia and China chose to abstain from the vote. The military escalation in the region follows a joint operation carried out by Israel and the United States in the early hours of February 28. According to the governments involved, the action had the stated objective of “eliminating the threats” posed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The offensive resulted in the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as several high-ranking military officials of the country. On Monday (9), Mojtaba Khamenei, 56 years old, son of the assassinated ayatollah, was chosen as the new supreme leader of the Persian country. After the attacks, the Iranian government launched, in response, several waves of ballistic missiles and drones against Israel and also against U.S. military bases located in Middle Eastern countries.
