Rihanna did not debut a new song during her performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday night, but she announced her second pregnancy.
The artist sang a medley of her biggest hits while showcasing a noticeable baby bump in a red jumpsuit. The show took place during halftime of the game, which ended with the Kansas City Chiefs winning 38 to 35, securing the championship title for the season and taking home their third tournament title.
The pregnancy did not seem to completely slow Rihanna down. She danced and sang some of her most well-known hits, surrounded by a team of dancers dressed in white. She opened the show with “B ** ch Better Have My Money,” before moving on to other songs from her long list of hits, including “We Found Love,” “Rude Boy,” “Work,” “Only Girl (In the World),” and “Umbrella.” It was clear that the choreography spared the mom from heavy impacts, but it did not diminish the brilliance of the performance at all.
In May 2022, Rihanna welcomed her first child, a boy, with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky. Three months later, she was invited by the NFL to perform this year. During a press conference before the Super Bowl last week, the singer admitted that she was a bit hesitant about the invitation, after all, it had only been three months since giving birth.
But she then revealed that motherhood boosted her confidence, saying: “When you become a mother, something happens and you feel like you can conquer the world. You can do anything, and the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. So, as scary as it was… there’s something exciting about the challenge of it all, and it’s important for me to do this this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see this.”
