Sérgio Mendes celebrates 50 years of Brazil ’66

Sérgio Mendes, one of the most successful Brazilian artists internationally of all time, has influenced the music industry for over five decades and continues to evolve through new collaborations and media. The producer, composer, keyboardist, and vocalist, a multiple Grammy winner, celebrates the 50th anniversary of his band Brazil ‘66 with a special world tour that makes a stop in Southern California for just one night before leaving the U.S.

Mendes has recorded over 35 albums, many of which have reached gold or platinum status, and he is a three-time Grammy winner. In 2012, Mendes received his first Oscar nomination in the music category for “Real In Rio,” from the 3D animated film “Rio.” Mendes’ iconic album: “Herb Alpert presents Sérgio Mendes & Brasil ’66” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, joining Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.,” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech, the Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main St., and others in the 2012 class of historically significant recordings.
