“Will I go to heaven, or will I go to the motel?” asks the chorus of
“Combate”, the latest single from the album “Tudo que Sonhamos” by the duo UM44K. To translate the song into images, Saulo Poncio and Luan Otten went to Los Angeles, California, to film the music video with a high-production vibe.
Filmed on an American football field, the video for “Combate” found a humorous way to translate the eternal dilemma of yielding to the temptations of the senses, choosing between the “flesh” and the “spirit”.
Directed by Junior Marques and produced by 8K Visual, the video featured a team of over 20 people and a cast of 15 actors on the field.
Written by Luan and Saulo, in partnership with Luccas Carlos and André Nine, “Combate” is part of the duo’s debut album. Released in January of this year, “Tudo que Sonhamos” broke records by placing 9 out of 12
songs on the Spotify TOP 200 list, putting the duo in a select group of artists to debut multiple songs from the same album in the TOP 200. Among the tracks from the album, the music videos for “Nossa Música”, a single that is part of the soundtrack for the soap opera “O Sétimo Guardião”, “Grupo Bom”, and “Tudo que Sonhamos” together exceed 90 million views.
Formed by friends Luan Otten and Saulo Poncio, the carioca duo is already a phenomenon of popularity on the internet. The duo has millions of followers and views online, in addition to creating an elegant mix of R&B and POP in their hit tracks. With over 90 million views on a single video, that of the song “4 da manhã”, and nearly 70 million on “Nossa Música”, a single that is part of the soundtrack for the soap opera “O Sétimo Guardião” (the theme of the main couple), the group has increasingly become musical idols.
Now 23 years old, Luan and Saulo were quickly noticed by fans, infinitely followed and “liked” both for the charisma of the
duo and for the strength and originality of their compositions. Before showing themselves as performers, they composed songs released by Ludmilla, Iza, Ferrugem, and Nego do Borel. The duo’s first video was posted, without major pretensions, less than three years ago, and today the channel already counts over 2 million subscribers and 312 million views. UM44K has become an audience champion and can already be considered one of the most promising bets in contemporary pop music.
UM44K may sound like a password, but the band’s name was inspired by a passage from the Apocalypse that says “144,000 souls were chosen to praise”; it may also seem like a duo with the strength of titans in the digital world, but it is just the dream of two young men who want to be happy doing what they love most. Good and quality music.
