New York’s winter is very harsh, with temperatures dropping to -4 degrees Celsius, which is quite cold. In any case, the worst part is not the
temperature, but the wind chill. This makes everything feel even colder, largely due to the wind coming from the rivers surrounding Manhattan Island, which drastically lowers the city’s thermometers.
But is that bad? Not at all! Traveling to New York in winter is a fantastic and very different experience, one that everyone should have at least once in their lifetime.
And this year, the city has several new attractions. NYC & Company, the official tourism marketing organization for New York City, has officially launched the NYC Winter Outing, created to inspire visitors to plan trips to New York.
This is the first time that NYC & Company is promoting the launch of its three programs simultaneously: NYC Broadway WeekSM, NYC Restaurant Week®, and NYC Must-See Week. During the mentioned period, various Broadway musicals, museums, attractions, and tours will be available for 2-for-1 tickets, and nearly 400 restaurants will offer fixed-price menus.
Additionally, during this time, the city’s hotels offer the most attractive rates of the year, providing visitors with very competitive value. Details of the unified program can be found at the link www.nycgo.com/nyc-winter-outing
“One of New York City’s best-kept secrets is the incredible value that visitors experience during the winter months. Winter offers the best hotel rates of the year. This
combined with the timing of the NYC Restaurant Week, NYC Broadway Week, and NYC Must-See Week programs, makes New York an irresistible destination for travelers,” says Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company.
To further highlight New York City as a vibrant winter destination, NYC & Company has appointed Jeremy Jauncey, founder and CEO of Beautiful Destinations, as New York’s Winter Ambassador. During this period, Jauncey will create exclusive content
for the program, including his top ten tips for enjoying the season across New York’s five boroughs.
“I am very lucky to call New York my home,” says Jeremy Jauncey. “I love exploring the different neighborhoods, especially during winter. This time of year brings new life to an already enchanting city. And above all, I love seeing people from all over the world traveling to New York to experience a truly magical place!”
The NYC Winter Outing will also offer mini-itineraries for different traveler profiles, combining a meal from NYC Restaurant Week, a
show from NYC Broadway Week, and an attraction from NYC Must-See Week. Four options are already available with themes such as “Glam” (glamorous itinerary), “Old School” (classic tours), “Go Big or Go Home” (imposing attractions), and “Like a VIP” (to experience celebrity moments). More suggestions will soon be added to the list.
