Much more than a state, Utah is a state of mind. Sculpted by wind, water, and time, Utah’s landscape is the perfect backdrop for your next adventure. From the five great national parks—Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion—to the greatest snow on earth in the Wasatch Mountains, and all the points in between
—Utah is the place where memories are made and experiences are forged.
A road trip through Northern Utah might include a drive to Logan Canyon to Bear Lake for boating and summer festivals, and even to Union Station in Ogden to visit the railroad museum. The
southern route through Davis County offers views of the Great Salt Lake, which you can get closer to at Antelope Island State Park.
Naturally, you will never be far from the Wasatch Mountains where you can ski,
snowboard, hike, bike, and camp for your own enjoyment. In northeastern Utah, the High Uintas Wilderness invites exploration on horseback, or you can sneak a peek at the dinosaurs of the past at sites near Vernal.
Perhaps you just want to spend time in Salt Lake Valley, the most metropolitan area. Here, you find Temple Square and the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir, the Utah Symphony, and the Opera. Park City, a resort town that hosts the famous Sundance Film Festival and boasts three world-class resorts, is half an hour west of Salt Lake.
Central Utah, a corridor of land between the alpine forests of the north and the red rock canyons of the south, is a vast expanse of mountains, plateaus, and high desert, ideal for the traveler seeking true isolation. It is an area
rich in natural resources: from vast coal regions and hunting and fishing meccas to fertile farmlands and mystical deserts. One of the best historical and cultural attractions in Central Utah is on Heritage Highway 89. South of Price, the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry boasts the highest
concentration of Jurassic dinosaur bones on the planet. From there, it’s easy to take a trip to the San Rafael Swell. Although “The Swell” is not technically a national park, it features remote canyons and stunning views that rival
those found anywhere else in the state.
Southern Utah is a land of stunning and unparalleled beauty, characterized by contrasting landscapes of snow-capped mountain peaks, orange-hued rock towers sculpted by erosion into bridges, arches, and “fairy chimneys” in red rock, surprising faults where the earth shakes, and rolling hills of smooth rock.
