The Preparatory Meeting for the Brazilians in the World Conference (CMB) in 2018 will be held in Athens, Greece, from May 19 to 21. The event is being organized by community leaders themselves, with institutional support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and logistical assistance from the Brazilian Embassy in Athens.
The goal of the event will be to discuss and formulate proposals on: topics of thematic tables and regional coordinations (improving, contextualizing, updating, and responding to the demands of thematic tables and regional coordinations); strategic planning of the Council of Representatives of Brazilians Abroad; integration between councils and incorporation of newly created councils into the work of the CRBE; political positioning with the Legislative and outlining concrete proposals; associativism (consolidation of associativist processes, including the definitive CRBE logo, virtual communication platforms such as a website and database, among others); finances (evaluation of the economic and social weight of actions arising from Brazilian communities abroad); remittances, entrepreneurship, and volunteering; civic and cultural manifestations.
The agenda will be divided into major themes traditionally addressed at the Brazilians in the World Conferences: Associativism; Social Issues (Gender Violence, Social Security), Education; Work, Entrepreneurship, and Remittances; and Consular and Legal Matters. Here is the summarized program of the event:
Representatives of Citizen Councils/Citizenship and also representatives from communities where Citizen Councils/Citizenship have not yet been formed are invited to participate in the Conference. Since this is not an event organized directly by the MRE, the travel and accommodation costs for the representatives of the Councils and other participants must be covered by themselves (or by the group members, where applicable). Due to space limitations, it will be up to the CRBE to authorize the registrations of interested parties who do not represent formed Citizen Councils/Citizenship.
