The value of vehicle exports from manufacturers based in Brazil grew by 46.1% in February compared to January, reaching US$ 1.18 billion. At the end of the first two months, there was an increase of 46.4%, totaling US$ 1.99 billion.
For the sector, this was the best February in history. The data was released by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
Production grew by 14.7% compared to January, and 28.1% in the first two months of this year, with a total of 200.4 thousand vehicles. Over the past 12 months, production shows a decline of 3.1%.Resumption of Growth
The president of Anfavea, Antonio Megale, expressed hope for a resumption of growth in the automotive industry, more concentrated in the second half of the year, following the same trajectory expected for the economic recovery. He believes that, starting this semester, performance will begin to improve.
For the end of the year, Megale maintained the projection of a 4% growth in sales to the domestic market, but stated that this forecast was made considering the possibility of increased investments in infrastructure.Exports on the Rise
While the expected recovery in the domestic market does not occur, manufacturers are likely to continue selling more abroad. In February, Brazil exported 74.7% more than in January in physical volume equivalent to 66.2 thousand units. Compared to the same period last year, this represented an increase of 82.2%, and in the two-month period, 73.1%.Source: Agência Brasil
