Ministry of Tourism plans to start project for the development of sustainable tourism in Alagoas

The Ministries of Tourism and Economy are jointly designing a project aimed at developing sustainable tourism in properties and areas owned by the Union spread across the country. To this end, the National Secretary for Investment Attraction, Partnerships, and Concessions of the Ministry of Tourism, Lucas Fiuza, and the Special Secretary for Privatization, Disinvestment, and Markets of the Ministry of Economy, Diogo Faria, visited some Union areas in Alagoas to initiate a pilot project in the state. The idea is to create a management model for any services offered in an orderly and decentralized manner in inalienable areas of the Union, in partnership with the private sector, and to identify properties with tourism potential that are unused for concession or sale.

“At this first moment, our intention was, in addition to visiting the destination on-site, to align between the Federal, State, and Municipal governments regarding the tourism development of Alagoas involving these Union areas and the management of services on the beaches. After that, we will check what type of modeling can be applied to this project, seeking balance while respecting market dynamics and human development,” said the National Secretary for Investment Attraction, Partnerships, and Concessions of the Ministry of Tourism, Lucas Fiuza.

The Special Secretary for Privatization, Disinvestment, and Markets of the Ministry of Economy, Diogo Faria, expressed the Federal Government’s interest in carrying out a broad project in this regard and emphasized the importance of partnership. “We came to discuss and present our proposal. To build a sustainable tourism project, ensuring legal security to attract future investments. And we will rely heavily on the City Hall in this process,” he explained.

The mayor of Maceió, João Henrique Caldas, reinforced the commitment to tourism in Maceió and assured that the ministries can count on the City Hall. “We will work together to transform the beauty of our city into income for the people of Maceió,” assured the leader of the Alagoas capital.

On January 15, 2021, a delegation formed by the two ministries visited tourist attractions owned by the Union in the municipalities of Maceió, Maragogi, and Marechal Deodoro. In addition to the two secretaries, the deputy special secretary for Privatization, Disinvestment, and Markets of the Ministry of Economy, Pedro Capeluppi; the Secretary of Coordination and Governance of the Union Heritage of the Ministry of Economy, Mauro Filho; the director of ICMBio, Col. Simanovic; the superintendent of Union Heritage in Alagoas, Fabricia Costa Soares; the program director of the Special Secretariat for Privatization, Marília Garcez; and the Director of Investment Attraction of Mtur, João Daniel Ruettimann were present.
