Book: A Wizard of Earthsea – The Brasilians

Book: A Wizard of Earthsea

I have to confess that when I started reading A Wizard of Earthsea, I expected a different kind of reading. However, this was one of the best surprises from Ursula K. Le Guin’s book. In this book, we won’t have bloody battles of medieval armies or fights between powerful wizards, no. In this book, we will have a quest. The story of the Wizard Sparrowhawk impresses from the very first pages, where we encounter an ordinary child doing things that any child would do at that age.

After he grows up, now named Ged, we see the impatience, arrogance, and pride typical of teenagers. It is exactly along this line of thought that the story finds its way. Ged makes a terrible mistake while at the School of Wizards in Roke, and because of this, in addition to carrying the scars on his face for the rest of his life, he must seek redemption for the consequences of his thoughtless actions.

It is in this quest that we see how Ged’s character grows, through the kindness of servitude and care. Ged embarks on a long journey that becomes increasingly dangerous, and this very danger is what drives him away from everything and everyone. He needs to find his fear, confront it, and try to overcome it, even if it means giving his life for it.

A Wizard of Earthsea is not a book that talks about bloody battles, but rather about people, and it presents us with an engaging story that shows that sometimes we have to travel a long road to try to find ourselves and thus leave our mistakes in the past and live in the present.

This work was published by Editora Arqueiro and has a beautiful cover featuring one of the scenes from the book. The paper is yellowed and has a comfortable font. At the end, we also have a postscript from the author that is very nice. A Wizard of Earthsea surprised me in a very good way, as I had an extremely enjoyable reading experience.

A Wizard of Earthsea – Earthsea Cycle – Book I is truly UNMISSABLE!
