Kanye West is an American music producer and rapper, also known as Ye. He is a major artist and pop star, known internationally. He produced hits for well-known musicians such as Alicia Keys and Eminem. He has won several Grammys, including Best Rap Solo Performance for the song “Stronger” from the album “Graduation.”
Kanye Omari West was born in Atlanta, Georgia. After his parents’ divorce when he was 3 years old, he moved to Chicago, where his mother taught English. West was raised in a middle-class environment, unlike the vast majority of hip hop musicians.
Kanye West attended The American Academy of Art and the University of Chicago, the latter to study arts. However, he dropped out to pursue a music career. He began producing songs that became famous through Alicia Keys, Eminem, Keyshia Cole, Janet Jackson, among others. Additionally, albums like
“The Blueprint” by Jay-Z became famous due to his production.
Kanye West received a significant boost in his career through producer No I.D, who taught him how to create samples.
Kanye West released his first album in 2004, “The College Dropout,” followed by “Late Registration” (2005), “Graduation” (2007), “808s & Heartbreak” (2008), and “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” (2010). He has received a total of 12 Grammys for these works.
Kanye West owns GOOD Music, his own record label, considered one of the best hip hop producers in the world.
West is married to businesswoman and celebrity Kim Kardashian West, with whom he has 3 children: North West, Saint West, Chicago West, the latter being born via surrogate, as Kim had serious issues in her last pregnancy that would make any further pregnancies fatal for her.
