Despite being born in São Bernardo do Campo, Ícaro was raised in Diadema, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. The first time he appeared on TV was for a tragic reason: the child, then eight years old, was interviewed by Fantástico due to the heavy rain that occurred in 1995. The shack where Ícaro’s family lived was at risk of collapsing.
Thanks to the interview and the comfort the boy showed with the cameras, Marcia Eleane Braghini, then director of a private school in the region, offered the boy a full scholarship.
Still in childhood, the prodigy Ícaro wrote three books. In parallel, his mother (Josefa Silva), who was a public servant, took him to a series of acting auditions.
As he could not afford the expenses of an acting course, Ícaro Silva attended the Actor’s Workshop at Rede Globo, which was his entry point into television.
The actor’s first work on screen was in the soap opera Meu Pé de Laranja Lima (1998), on Band.
Two years later, he played Cacá, a character in the soap opera Vidas Cruzadas. In 2002, he switched channels and went to SBT where he played Neno in Pequena Travessa.
Ícaro worked between 2004 and 2007 portraying the role of Rafa in Malhação.
The actor participated for three years in the youth soap opera Malhação.
In 2009, he hosted the show TV Globinho alongside other colleagues.
The following year, also on TV Globo, Ícaro acted in Na Forma da Lei. In 2010, already in theater, he participated in the play Garotos, by Leandro Goulart.
In 2011, it was time to appear in Batendo Ponto and, the following year, in Os Caras de Pau.
He also acted in the film Elis (2016), where he played the singer Jair Rodrigues.
He was part of the cast of the soap opera Pega Pega and the GNT series Edifício Paraíso.
He participated in the film Legalize Já – Amizade nunca morre (about Planet Hemp) where he portrayed Skunk, the band’s founder alongside Marcelo D2.
Recently, he played Capitão, one of the protagonists of the series Coisa Mais Linda aired by Netflix.
Ícaro Silva was the Brazilian actor chosen to voice one of the main characters in the remake of Disney’s classic The Lion King. The new version of the animation premiered in Brazil on July 18, 2019.
In the original American version, Simba is voiced by Donald Glover.
