Government to Invest in Tourism Works

The federal government will resume nine projects from the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) Tourism, which will receive R$ 7.5 million in federal investments.

The PAC Tourism aims to improve the tourism infrastructure in the country. The selection of projects took into account their relevance to the population and the improvement they will provide in the living conditions of Brazilians.

The projects are located in five states: Minas Gerais, Goiás, Rio Grande do Sul, Pará, and Rio de Janeiro. All refer to tourist signage in destinations such as Pelotas (RS) and Vassouras (RJ). The historic cities of Minas Gerais—Congonhas, Diamantina, and São João Del Rei—will have projects funded by the release of resources.Economy

“The release of funds for the completion of tourist signage projects demonstrates the importance the government places on the Tourism sector, a significant generator of jobs and income in the country,” stated the Minister of Tourism, Marx Beltrão (photo).

According to the Minister of Planning, Development, and Management (MP), Dyogo Oliveira, the constructions can be resumed by June 30, 2017. The maximum deadline for completion is December 2018. It will be up to the ministry to regulate and establish, through an ordinance, the deadlines for the resumption and completion of the projects.

The estimate is that the initiative will generate up to 45,000 jobs in the construction supply chain.
