American economy shows signs of heating up

The North American economy is showing some signs that the recovery is going well. The value of existing home sales in the United States has been recording gains greater than expected. Last October, for example, the Census Bureau reported that the value of existing home sales registered gains for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.323M, up from 1.054M the previous month. Analysts had expected an increase to 1.156M.

Another sector of the economy, which is associated with real estate, construction is also surprising and showing unexpected gains. The same agency reported that the value of building permits in the country had gains for a seasonally adjusted rate of 1.229M, up from 1.225M the previous month.

Weekly jobless claims in the United States unexpectedly fell to reach their lowest level since late 1973, according to data released by the Department of Labor (DOL).

In seasonally adjusted figures, authorities recorded 235,000 claims in the week ending November 12, a decrease of 7.5% compared to the previous week, when analysts expected an increase of 1.2%.
