Brazilian Culture Abroad – The Brasilians

Brazilian Culture Abroad

Promoting Brazilian culture abroad is one of the priorities of the new administration. This statement was made during a meeting between the Ministry of Culture and the director of the Cultural Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal of the meeting was to strengthen the partnership between the ministries to enable greater promotion of the country.

During the meeting, the possibility of a joint action by both ministries in the cultural programming carried out by Rede Brasil Cultura was discussed – an instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the promotion of the Portuguese language abroad.

Rede Brasil Cultura is present in over 40 countries on all continents, formed by 24 Cultural Centers, 5 Study Centers, and about 40 university professors selected through public competition to work at foreign universities.

Lei Rouanet

In light of the reform of the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture, the Lei Rouanet, which will be promoted by MinC in dialogue with various sectors of culture and civil society, offered the contribution of Itamaraty, with suggestions for changes in the current legislation, to facilitate and encourage the involvement of Brazilians abroad in disseminating the country’s cultural production.
