Carnival for the World

Travelers from various countries around the world visited Brazil to enjoy the carnival. The favorite cities of foreign tourists were Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. The fluminense capital welcomed more than 300,000 people, while another 100,000 went to Bahia. The balance of the days of revelry was released on Ash Wednesday, when the festivities ended.

A survey released by the city hall of Rio indicated that foreigners stayed an average of 10 days in the city, with 91.9% of them recommending the destination to others. Visitors also rated aspects such as nightlife, which received a score of 9.3 on a scale of 1 to 10; accommodation scored 8.6; and gastronomy 8.3.

The natural beauties of Brazil and the friendliness of its hosts were also highlighted.

The ranking of countries that sent the most visitors to the Brazilian carnival in 2017 includes Argentina with 29% and the United States with 13%. In third place is France with 11%; followed by England with 6%, Portugal with 5%, Mexico with 5%, Chile with 5%, among others.

In addition to the Rio-Salvador axis, the most famous carnival circuit in the world includes the cities of Recife and Olinda in the state of Pernambuco, the capital of São Paulo (SP), Manaus (AM), and the route of historical cities in Minas Gerais.
