The most emblematic jazz club in the world has just opened its first branch in the southern hemisphere, in Rio de Janeiro.
The Blue Note is yet another venture by entrepreneur Luiz Calainho, director of L21 participações, along with partners Daniel Stain, Marcelo Megale, Flávio Pinheiro, and the promotional marketing group TGF, led by Armando Lisboa and Thiago Goes.
The New York club, present in seven cities around the world (New York, California, Hawaii, Milan, Beijing, Tokyo, and Nagoya), opens its first southern hemisphere branch in Rio, arriving in the city to offer music lovers the best option to see and hear contemporary jazz and instrumental music, with the intimacy that only jazz clubs can provide, where the closeness of the audience to the artists and their sound becomes very special. Among the confirmed attractions are names like Chick Corea and Steve Gadd Band, Sergio Mendes, Baby do Brasil, and Maceo Parker.
This is the best moment for this renewal of the Carioca music scene, as jazz celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2017 and has been celebrated worldwide.
The Blue Note Rio is located in the Lagoon Complex, the heart of Rio’s southern zone, in a space of 800m². It has a capacity for 350 spectators, two bars, a restaurant, and, of course, state-of-the-art lighting and sound. Blue Note Rio offers a program with shows from Wednesday to Saturday, featuring national and international highlights each month and resident bands. Starting in October, the venue will also become a gourmet center, led by award-winning chef Pedro de Artagão, focusing on the artistic-business binomial with live jazzy music, the gastro-jazzy, for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Music will always be present, offering a unique atmosphere in the city.
