The ENCCEJA/supplementary exam is scheduled to take place in September, but many students are already preparing to pass the test that grants high school certification for Brazilians living abroad. On April 9, the Legion of Good Will-LBV of the USA (Legion of Good Will-LGW), in partnership with the Consulate General of Brazil in NY, launched the third cycle of free preparatory classes with the participation of nearly 400 students. The online course with video lessons via email attracts Brazilians from various parts of the USA and even from other countries. In-person reinforcement classes take place at the LBV headquarters in Manhattan. Both modalities are free and still accepting registrations until the end of May.
The Brazilian high school completion certificate (equivalent to the North American high school diploma) opens many opportunities for personal and professional growth both in the USA and in Brazil. This certification is mandatory, for example, in university selection processes, for enrollment in certain courses. The LBV preparatory course for ENCCEJA started in early April and continues until August. The Legion of Good Will, which already has experience with education for youth and adults in Brazil through its famous supplementary courses, has begun to offer this support to Brazilians abroad, most of whom have been away from formal education in Portuguese for many years.
The experienced LBV teachers recorded video lessons with explanations of all the content outlined in the INEP booklets, the Brazilian government agency responsible for the ENCCEJA exam. The study program includes two video lessons per week sent via email so that students can study at their convenience.
Those who are available to travel to the LBV-USA headquarters (55 W 45th St., 6th Floor, Manhattan, NY) can also apply for one of the spots in the in-person reinforcement tutoring sessions, focusing on Portuguese, writing, and exact subjects. The tutoring sessions, also free, have weekly meetings on Saturday mornings and have limited spots.
“95% of students approved in the ENCCEJA/exterior exam in New York took the LBV preparatory course. We are repeating the program once again this year because we realized that this support for students has greatly helped them pass the test,” highlights Danilo Parmegiani, representative of LBV in the United States.
