The head of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Moreira Franco, assessed last March that developing the national security and defense industry is essential to consolidate Brazil’s global position.
“I am a country of global prominence […] Both the defense industry and the organization of the sector in the country are indispensable to consolidate Brazil’s role and contribution on the international stage,” he said while participating in the event “National Defense: A Strategic Agenda,” organized by the Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs.Integration
For Franco, it is essential to bring together government, academia, and the private sector around the development of research and innovation efforts in the area of national defense as a way to ensure quality of life for all. “It is [these research initiatives] that have guaranteed improvements in the population’s quality of life with the incorporation of new technologies into their daily lives,” he said.
In addition to the minister, the event also featured the presence of Sérgio Etchegoyen, acting Minister of Defense, General Joaquim Silva e Luna, and the special secretary for Strategic Affairs, Hussein Kalout.Source: www.brazilgovnews.gov.br
