The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, condemned the attack on former U.S. president and presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling the assassination attempt on Saturday (July 13) “unacceptable.”
“The attack on former president Donald Trump must be strongly condemned by all defenders of democracy and political dialogue. What we witnessed today is unacceptable,” the president wrote on his social media.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Brazilian government also condemned the attack on former U.S. president Donald Trump.
“With a strong condemnation of the attack and wishes for a speedy recovery to the former president, Brazil reaffirms that any form of political violence in democratic societies is unacceptable and closely follows the complete investigation of the incident,” stated the Brazilian government.
