On August 5th, from 6 PM to 10 PM, the City Parks Foundation brings to Central Park the iconic Brazilian samba singer, provocative personality, and signature vocalist Elsa Soares as the headliner of the annual Brazil Summerfest. She has had a very intense career, collaborating with renowned artists and receiving numerous awards. In 2016, she released A Mulher do Fim do Mundo (“Woman at the End of the World”) and sang at the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics. Truly a living icon, Soares is a gift to experience live.
The Brazil Summerfest also features Liniker e os Caramelows, led by the effervescent Liniker Barros, a transgender vocalist. Performing at the most important festivals in Brazil, from São Paulo to Rio, they quickly became a national treasure. In 2016, they released their first studio album Remonta. With unrestrained enthusiasm, they are now ready to impress the world stage.
One more artist completes the show. The main project of nomadic DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Cyr, Teleseen weaves together musical influences from the global underground into a refreshingly unique blend. His musical vision equally draws from deep house and afro house, samba, batucada, baile funk, and MPB influences absorbed while living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His latest album, The Emotional Life of Savages, is set to release in the fall of 2017.
