Sunrise Growers has recalled frozen fruits sold at retail chains across the country due to possible listeria contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported.
The products were sold by Walmart, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Target, Aldi, and AWG nationwide between the fall of 2022 and this week. The complete list of brands and packaging codes being recalled is available on the FDA’s website.
The contamination is linked to pineapples supplied by a third-party vendor, the FDA said.
No illnesses have been associated with the recall so far. Listeria typically causes short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in healthy individuals, but can cause severe and even fatal infections in children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. The infection can also trigger miscarriages in pregnant women.
The FDA advises consumers who purchased from these stores to check their freezers for any frozen fruits that are being recalled. If any are found, discard them or return them to the store for a full refund.
