The film Ainda Estou Aqui has been nominated in three categories for the 2025 Oscar. Actress Fernanda Torres has been nominated for Best Actress. The Brazilian production, in turn, has been nominated in two categories: Best Film and Best International Feature Film. The announcement was made at the end of the morning on Thursday (23) in Los Angeles (USA).
Fernanda Torres is competing for the award with actresses Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofía Gascón, Mikey Madison, and Demi Moore. Ainda Estou Aqui is competing in the Best Film category against Anora, O Brutalista, Um Completo Desconhecido, Conclave, Duna: Parte 2, Emilia Pérez, Nickel Boys, A Substância, and Wicked.
In the Best International Feature Film category, the Brazilian production is competing against A Garota da Agulha (Denmark), Emilia Pérez (France), A Semente do Fruto Sagrado (Germany), and Flow (Latvia).
Fernanda Torres was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in the Drama category earlier this month. This was the first time the award was given to a Brazilian.
Family Tradition
25 years ago, Fernanda Montenegro, Fernanda Torres’ mother, competed in the same category for which her daughter was nominated at the 2025 Oscar for her celebrated performance in Central do Brasil, from 1998. She did not win, but the production won the Golden Globe for Best International Feature Film.
Both Ainda Estou Aqui and Central do Brasil were directed by filmmaker Walter Salles. This year’s Oscar award ceremony is scheduled for March 2, also in Los Angeles.
Thanks
Fernanda Torres posted a video on social media, thanking for the nominations:
“Dear ones, I don’t even know what to say. I wanted to thank, of course, Walter, for the generosity he had with me in this film, for the fact that our film is nominated not only for Best International Feature Film but for Best Film of the Year. This is unimaginable. I wanted to thank the whole team, my film family, my children in the film, Selton… it was a film we made in happiness. And above all, I want to thank and honor this extraordinary woman named Eunice Paiva, who is behind all of this, who is the generator of all of this. And to Marcelo Paiva, who wrote this extraordinary book that allowed us to make this film. I will never forget. And this is a historic moment.”
