Copa América 2024 starts this Thursday (June 20) – The Brasilians

The Copa América 2024 football tournament leaves South America for the second time in its 108-year history, with the United States of America as the host for the 2024 edition.

The current champions, Argentina, will face debutants Canada in the opening match at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The opening ceremony will begin one hour before the first match, scheduled for this Thursday (June 20) at 8 PM ET.

The Copa América 2024 will bring together 16 of the top football teams from the Americas competing for the title in its 48th edition. The teams have been divided into four groups.

• Group A: Argentina, Peru, Chile, Canada

• Group B: Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Jamaica

• Group C: United States, Uruguay, Panama, Bolivia

• Group D: Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Costa Rica

The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals. The final of Copa América 2024 is scheduled to take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on July 14.

Fourteen stadiums across the U.S. will host the matches of Copa América. The U.S. also hosted the 2016 edition, won by Chile after defeating Argentina in penalties.

Uruguay, the most successful team in Copa América alongside Argentina with 15 titles, is in Group C along with the host U.S.

Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, on the other hand, is seeking its third consecutive international title after winning Copa América 2021 and FIFA World Cup 2022.

The nine-time champions Brazil are in Group D and will try to overcome the painful defeat to arch-rivals Argentina in the last Copa América final at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Despite the absence of superstar Neymar due to injury, the Real Madrid duo of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, along with young sensation Endrick, will look to impress.

Where to watch Copa América 2024

The matches of Copa América 2024 will be broadcast on FOX, FOX Sports 1 (FS1), and FOX Sports 2 (FS2).

Copa América 2024 will be available in Spanish in the United States on Univision, TUDN, and UniMás.
