The UN Security Council approved on Wednesday (11) a resolution condemning the attacks carried out by Iran against US and Israeli targets in the Middle East. The text does not mention the military aggressions launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iranian territory. The information is from RT Brasil.
The resolution was presented by Bahrain and received approval from the body, while Russia and China chose to abstain in the vote. The military escalation in the region follows a joint operation carried out by Israel and the United States in the early hours of February 28. According to the governments involved, the action had the stated objective of “eliminating the threats” represented by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The offensive resulted in the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as several high-ranking military officials of the country. On Monday (9), Mojtaba Khamenei, 56 years old and son of the assassinated ayatollah, was chosen as the new supreme leader of the Persian nation. After the attacks, the Iranian government launched, in response, several waves of ballistic missiles and drones against Israel and also against US military bases located in Middle Eastern countries.
