All-Female Theater Company, Including Brazilians, Presents “Until Dark” in NY

Et Alia Theater, an all-female theater company based in New York composed of women from various parts of the world, will present “Until Dark” by Federica Borlenghi, a new play that reflects on sexual consent and the complexities of sisterhood, testing its bonds and limits.

The play will be on display at Out of the Box Theatrics (154 Christopher St, New York City) from February 15 to March 3. Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.

Two Brazilian actresses and producers, Luísa Galatti and Ana Moioli, are in the cast.

“Finding this play was probably one of the best things that has ever happened to us. It not only speaks from a woman’s point of view, delicately addressing the theme of sexual consent, but also deeply explores the relationship between sisters. Building Et Alia together, as friends, has allowed us to build a sisterhood relationship among us, so when we first read ‘Until Dark’, it fit like a glove. We had the opportunity to explore our own relationship on stage, and what a wonderful experience we are having!” said Luísa Galatti.

Et Alia Theater is a group of women from around the world who come together in New York City to create art. The mission is to celebrate diversity and give voice to international women through the performing arts. Et Alia is not just a theater group; it is a supportive community that provides performance opportunities and artistic programming for foreign artists in New York. They have worked to create a space where people seeking a home can express themselves and connect with one another.

Established in 2019, Et Alia Theater is led by Ana Moioli, Giorgia Valenti, Luísa Galatti, and Maria Müller. In previous works, the group has addressed themes such as immigration barriers, cultural shocks, and variations of eating disorders in women from different countries, as well as using their multiple languages and cultures as a tool to rediscover theater in New York.

The company has performed in various award-winning Off-Broadway theaters in the city, such as Theaterlab, HERE, The Brick, and Rattlestick. In collaboration with Aurora Nova Production and as part of the international event Let There be Theater: A Call to Action, Et Alia was the ambassador in the U.S. for the renowned global play White ‘Rabbit Red Rabbit’ by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour.

Until Dark will be its longest run to date, produced in the recently renovated space Out of the Box Theatrics (formerly New Ohio Theater). The play was the winner of the Et Alia Theater Lab in 2023: ‘art by the other’, the company’s play development program.
