Embratur Launches Promotional Contest for 30 Days with All Expenses Paid

The Brazilian Institute of Tourism (Embratur) launched this week “The King of the Roll”, its newest international promotional campaign. The contest will encourage international visitors to compete for an unforgettable trip to Brazil, for 30 days, with all expenses paid. “Rolê” is a Brazilian expression that loosely translates to “taking a fun trip”. To go on a “rolê” means to go out, make new friends, and enjoy life.

“We are launching an international online contest to choose an international visitor who will spend 30 days traveling across the country. This will include visits to destinations in all regions of Brazil and even a meeting with President Jair Bolsonaro,” explains Embratur’s president, Gilson Machado Neto. According to Mr. Neto, participants must submit videos of up to 1 minute, explaining why they should be chosen to win a free 30-day trip to Brazil.

According to Embratur’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Osvaldo Matos, the “King of the Roll” will also become the star of his own reality show. A team from Embratur will follow the lucky winner to document and post the adventures on Visit Brazil’s social media channels.

“The traveler will be filmed from the moment they leave their home in their home country. All episodes will be broadcasted on social media and will be available on the website created exclusively for the promotion,” says Mr. Matos.

According to Embratur’s president, the campaign will have the support of Brazilian airlines and hotels. The goal is for the winner to be in Brazil during next year’s Carnival and tour the events in Rio de Janeiro, Pernambuco, Bahia, and São Paulo.

The promotion is primarily being advertised in countries that have obtained visa exemption for entry into Brazil: the United States, Canada, Australia, and Japan. In Europe, the campaign will reach Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, as well as Russia. Additionally, the goal is also to attract visitors from the Southern Cone and Mercosur, such as Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
