Brazil received the silver award in the Nature and Wildlife category at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2023 – one of the most prestigious tourism awards in the UK. Awarded last month at a ceremony at the British Museum, it reflects Embratur’s focus on ecotourism initiatives.
“It was a special moment for us, where we revived the market’s perception of the importance of Brazil, particularly regarding nature and wildlife travel, but we will work to win the gold award next year,” said Jaqueline Gil, Embratur’s marketing director, who was present at the ceremony to receive the award.Popular Acclaim
About 90,000 people participated in the voting for the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2023, which reinforces the popular acclaim of the winners. Italy, Costa Rica, and Germany were among this year’s gold award winners.
The award also signaled the prestige given to Brazil by the readers of Wanderlust, the oldest and most widely circulated travel magazine in the UK. This follows the choice of the Latin American country by Forbes Magazine as the best country in the world for ecotourism earlier this year.
The Ecotourism Index, developed by the global platform Forbes Advisor, ranks countries based on biodiversity assessment, the number of natural attractions and UNESCO-recognized parks, and the sustainability of these destinations.
