The ambassador P. Michael McKinley emphasized the importance of international study for the U.S. Mission to Brazil – “Student mobility between Brazil and the United States is one of our top priorities. We are working with several institutional partners to continue the excellent existing bilateral educational initiatives and even launch new ones in the coming months.”

Although Brazil ranks among the top ten countries sending students to the U.S., the number of Brazilian students in the United States has dropped to 13,089 due to the end of the Science Mobility Program. On the other hand, Brazil ranked 24th as a destination abroad for U.S. students.
