A few days before International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, a committee formed by representatives from the three branches of the Brazilian government presented, on Wednesday (March 4), a plan to combat gender-based violence in the country. One of the highlights of the initiative is a national effort to serve around 1,000 arrest warrants against aggressors who are still fugitives across the country.
The joint effort will be nationally led by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in collaboration with state security forces.
In addition to carrying out operations to serve the arrest warrants, the plan includes the adoption of a tracking system for aggressors whose victims are under protective measures, as well as a new integrated women’s security center to centralize data and monitoring.
