Plane Crashes in São Paulo with 62 People Onboard. No Survivors

At around 1:30 PM this Friday (9), an aircraft from the French brand ATR, operated by Voepass, crashed in Vinhedo, a neighboring municipality of Campinas in the interior of São Paulo, and near the Viracopos airport, to which it was heading from Cascavel, Paraná. The company reported in a statement that flight 2283 was carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members.

The Voepass Linhas Aéreas stated that it has activated all means to support those involved. There is still no confirmation on how the accident occurred, but there are no survivors. This information was confirmed by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas and the Valinhos city hall.

In a video posted on social media, it can be seen that the plane loses lift and begins to spiral down until it crashes to the ground.

The plane fell in a recreational area of a residential condominium, but as of Friday afternoon, there were no reports of victims outside the aircraft. This information comes from the Secretary of Social Defense of Vinhedo, Osmir Aparecido Cruz, who was at the accident site.

The aircraft plummeted nearly four thousand meters in two minutes. Flight Radar’s flight log shows that the plane was at 17,000 feet altitude at 1:20 PM and at 4,000 feet at 1:22 PM, when the GPS signal was lost by the platform.
