Spring has arrived in Brazil! – The Brasilians

With the arrival of the flower season, the Tourism News Agency highlights places that are true nature and knowledge refuges across the country’s five regions.

Spring has arrived, and with it, the colors and scents that transform Brazil’s landscapes. The season, which officially begins this Monday (22/09), reinforces the invitation to connect with one of our greatest riches: Brazilian flora.

To celebrate the period, the Tourism News Agency has compiled a list of Botanical Gardens spread across the five regions of the country. These destinations offer leisure, festivals, and stunning scenery, while also playing a fundamental role in biodiversity conservation and environmental education.

No matter the reason for your trip—whether for the flowers, the mild climate, or the expectation of less crowded spots compared to other times of the year—there are plenty of excursion options. So, get ready to be enchanted and plan your next visit around Brazil.

Southeast Region

• Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden (Rio de Janeiro, RJ): One of the most famous and oldest in the country, with a vast collection of plants and historical monuments.

• Belo Horizonte Botanical Garden (Belo Horizonte, MG): Integrated with the Municipal Parks and Zoobotanical Foundation, it offers a rich experience amid nature.

Southern Region

• Curitiba Botanical Garden (Curitiba, PR): Known for its art nouveau glass greenhouse, one of the city’s main landmarks.

• Porto Alegre Botanical Garden (Porto Alegre, RS): Features a vast green area with collections of native plants from Rio Grande do Sul, including endangered species, as well as trails and a natural sciences museum.

Central-West Region

• Brasília Botanical Garden (Brasília, DF): Preserves the cerrado savanna and offers trails and spaces for environmental education.

• Goiânia Botanical Garden (Goiânia, GO): A green refuge in the Goianian capital, with collections of native plants.

Northeast Region

• Salvador Botanical Garden (Salvador, BA): Located in the São Marcos neighborhood, it is an important space for leisure and research.

• Jardim Botânico de João Pessoa – Benjamin Maranhão (João Pessoa, PB): Also known as Mata do Buraquinho, it is an essential area for conserving the Atlantic Forest in the Paraíban capital.

Northern Region

• Bosque Rodrigues Alves – Amazon Zoobotanical Garden (Belém, PA): A preserved piece of the Amazon rainforest in the heart of Belém.

• Museu da Amazônia (MUSA) – Manaus Botanical Garden (Manaus, AM): Offers complete immersion in the forest, with educational trails and an impressive observation tower.
