The Biggest Brazilian Party Outside Brazil – The Brasilians

The Biggest Brazilian Party Outside Brazil

The most anticipated event of the year, BR Day New York, is scheduled for September 3rd starting at 11 AM on 6th Avenue, right in the heart of Manhattan. A month before the event, it’s not just Brazilian immigrants who are excited and making plans for the big day. The all-star team coming directly from Brazil to celebrate is more excited than ever. Claudia Leitte, Sorriso Maroto, Marcos and Belutti, and presenter Otaviano Costa share their expectations for the biggest Brazilian party held outside Brazil.“I love the vibe of BR Day and the opportunity to bring the vibrant Brazilian energy to the audience that misses Brazil so much,” says Claudia Leitte, who promises to shake up 6th Avenue with an electrifying show. “It’s always very special to be part of this great party, and I’m happy to return once again,” celebrates the singer, who participated in BR Day New York in 2006 when she was part of the group Babado Novo. For Sorriso Maroto’s vocalist, Bruno Cardoso, participating in BR Day is the realization of a dream. “The event brings a great moment of connection through music, which is very important for Brazilians who miss their country. And this year, Sorriso will be one of those links between love and music. It will be a unique moment,” he believes. With nearly 20 years of experience, the Rio de Janeiro group will bring the romance of their latest tour “De Volta Pro Amanhã” to New York.Marcos and Belutti, who have been gaining an increasingly larger space in the Brazilian music scene for nine years, also celebrate the realization of this same dream. “We have always watched artists singing on 6th Avenue, and the desire to one day sing there was kept in our hearts,” says Marcos. Belutti shares that the show in New York will feature a special repertoire. “Since this will be our first participation in BR Day, we will prepare a repertoire different from what we do on the tour ‘Acredite’. We will bring our hits that cannot be missed, like ‘Domingo de Manhã’ and ‘Aquele 1%’, and also revive old hits from our sertanejo music, the famous ‘modões’. We will also present songs that are playing a lot here and that the people there also know,” he reveals.Otaviano Costa, who presented BR Day NY for the first time last year, already knows this excitement and for that reason, he didn’t think twice about returning this year. “As soon as the show ended, I was sure I wanted to be there again and, in fact, I asked to come back. But I was also very happy to know that the audience made the same request!” jokes the presenter of ‘Vídeo Show’. “It was really cool that exchange of energy and very nice to connect with so many Brazilians,” recalls Otaviano, who is already preparing for the next edition of the show. “The audience can expect a guy even more filled with good energy. I also have no doubt that Marcos and Belutti, Claudia Leitte, and Sorriso Maroto will light up the stage of the event so that the Brazilians who will be with us at the party feel even more connected to our beloved homeland,” he anticipates. The BR Day New York is co-produced by businessman João de Matos, by the newspaper The Brasilians, and has the support of TV Globo Internacional. The event was created in 1984 by João de Matos as a way to celebrate Brazil’s Independence. Initially, the party was restricted to 46th Street, known as Little Brazil; but over the years it grew so much that it had to be moved to 6th Avenue. Today, BR Day New York attracts an audience of over 1 million people who spread annually across several blocks of 6th Avenue to see and hear great hits of Brazilian music.
